If you are using IDS cameras connected to a PC via a PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch and experience intermittent camera connection issues, as shown in the accompanying image, it is likely that there is a problem with your hardware connections.
The PoE switch provided with the Ethernet cameras has five 1 Gbps ports (highlighted in red) and two 2.5 Gbps ports (highlighted in green).
These camera connection issues can occur if the port on the switch does not match the port on the PC. To ensure proper connectivity, follow these guidelines:
-
Matching Port Speeds: If your PC has a 2.5 Gbps port, use one of the 2.5 Gbps ports on the switch. If your PC only has 1 Gbps ports, use the 1 Gbps ports on both the switch and the PC.
-
Ethernet Cable Compatibility: Make sure you are using Ethernet cables that support the required speeds (e.g., Cat6 or Cat6a for 1 Gbps and higher).
-
Stable Connections: Ensure that all Ethernet cables are securely connected and free from damage. Loose or faulty cables can cause intermittent connections.
